Greece has 282 products with a geographical indication, of which:

• 115 PDO
• 167 PGI

More specifically, the list includes:

• 120 foods, consisting of 82 PDO and 38 PGI

• 147 wines, out of which 33 PDO and 114 PGI

• 15 PGI soft drinks

The acronyms PDO and PGI refer to the certification and protection of agricultural products in the European Union

PDO – Protected Designation of Origin

It refers to products produced, processed and prepared in a specific geographical area, using recognised techniques and traditional methods.

PGI – Protected Geographical Indication

It refers to products linked to a region as long as one stage of the process (production, processing or preparation) takes place within that region.
