Generation renewal in agriculture: The critical role of Agricultural Cooperatives and Producers’ Organizations

The increasing aging of the farming population, combined with the withdrawal of young people from the sector, raises serious questions about the sustainability and productivity of agriculture. In this context, collective schemes, such as Agricultural Cooperatives and Producer Organizations, play a crucial role in providing support and creating opportunities for young farmers, who are called to preserve the agricultural tradition.

Vassilis Pyrgiotis, Head of the Brussels office of GAIA EPICHEIREIN, in his article in the Greek newspaper Ypaithros Chora highlights the important role of agricultural cooperatives and producer organizations both in the renewal of generations and in ensuring the sustainability of the agricultural sector in general.
