Completing a decade of creative presence in the Greek agricultural sector, GAIA EPICHEIREIN has been and remains the leading body supporting sustainability and business development for agricultural businesses and cooperative organizations in Greece.
By combining the cooperative, technological, banking, and agricultural expertise drawn from our diverse shareholder base, we are leaders in the provision of innovative services and in the dissemination of information and knowledge about the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), while serving as a model of cooperative approach in the agri-food sector and an equal interlocutor of similar organizations at EU level.
The new decade of great challenges and opportunities that is opening up for European and Greek agriculture with the horizon of 2035, an interim milestone in the implementation of the Green Deal, finds us several steps ahead in relation to the very important goal of digital transformation of agriculture, which is a catalyst for its economic and environmental sustainability. Our development is in line with the development of Greek agriculture and its economic drivers, guided by knowledge, experience, and technological innovation.

GAIA EPICHEIREIN, celebrating its 10th anniversary, continues to innovate in its initiatives and services to the primary sector, overcoming significant challenges and its inherent issues. Specifically, innovation and the use of new technologies for Smart Agriculture is the driving force behind these challenges. New technologies have now become an integral part of the tools of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the European Green Deal, so GAIA EPICHEIREIN’s initial vision for a more sustainable and competitive Greek agriculture is being actively realized.
The new CAP has very high demands, particularly regarding the use of digital tools, making the transition to digital technologies essential for both older and younger producers. The new CAP also has specific general objectives, which include encouraging generational renewal and modernizing the agricultural sector with new knowledge and best practices. The project for the Digital Transformation of the Agricultural Sector (https://digiagro.gr/) presents an opportunity for young producers and others in this transition, as it encourages their active participation in digitization, aiming to benefit from services (e.g., installation of 3,000 telemetric agrometeorological stations).
