PoliRural
- Title:
Future Oriented Collaborative Policy Development for Rural Areas and People
- Funding source:
EU Horizon 2020 Programme
- Duration:
June 2019 - May 2022
The vision of the PoliRural project is to design agricultural policies capable of attracting part of the population back to rural areas, while also contributing to the reversal of the trend of land abandonment and the loss in biodiversity that follows. Targeted studies explore the effectiveness of current agricultural development measures and the most important needs of rural populations are identified and assessed, in order for attractive and supportive measures to be proposed to the competent policy-makers.
GAIA EPICHEIREIN, as a member of the project’s consortium, is exploring the current status of Greek rural areas with regard to prosperity, competitiveness, growth, and attractiveness, both in relation to their current populations as well as any recent or potential new arrivals. Furthermore, we are participating in the study of the interdependencies and impact caused by the implementation of different agricultural policies in the areas in question.
